Ian has over 40 years’ experience as a chartered engineer working in the bulk materials handling and processing sector.  

Starting his career working for his dad, designing coal preparation plants, Ian went on to work for the quarry companies Tilcon and Tarmac.

After 15 years with the Spencer Group, Ian co-founded Don Valley Materials Handling Ltd (DVMH) in Feb 2020 to re-establish the Don Valley Engineering’s Group presence in the sector.

Ian has a track record of designing and delivering major port and power station materials handling projects, his main role these days to enhance the reputation of the Don Valley Engineering Group, develop new customers and grow the business by applying the knowledge and experience accumulated throughout his career.

Ian holds a seats on the Bulk Materials Handling Committee of the I.Mech.E., and the executive committee of the MHEA, he is also regular speaker at seminars and trade conferences.
