About the CIS Networking Group
HISTORY
The CIS was originally founded in 1929 to bring together people allied to the coal industry. Coal has powered some of the biggest changes society has ever experienced. It was cheap and plentiful supply drove down the cost of production, leading to larger factories and machines, new industries, and the mass production of goods and arguably higher living standards.
FUTURE
Today the CIS sees the past as a stepping stone, not a millstone as we embrace renewable energy, quarrying and other energy related industries with the aim of bringing like-minded people together allied to these modern progressive and environmentally-aware industries.
LUNCHES
The CIS Networking Group meets twice a year (in normal circumstances) at the Principal Hotel in York for lunch with a guest speaker followed by the chance to network with like-minded people in the energy industries.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The CIS welcomed industry captains, government and graduates to its inaugural Conference at The Events Centre in York in July 2025. With a diverse mix of industry champions, the delegates were able to compare and learn from peers in similar, but different sectors.
Next year’s Conference will focus on the challenges relating to the declining construction industry, and how new opportunities and solutions are developin
MEMBERSHIP
It is free to join the CIS Networking Group, with approval from the Council. All members and their guests are invited to the lunches which are charged at cost: £65.00 per person.
SPONSORSHIP
Companies are invited to sponsor a lunch or a speaker’s expenses. Your company logo will appear on the marketing literature and it will be acknowledged during the meeting.
