Presentation title: A tough road to negotiate

Biography:

Matthew Berrisford began his career in logistics in 1994 as an HGV driver, delivering goods across the UK. In 1998, he joined James Irlam Ltd, a respected family-run haulage company, where he quickly progressed from driver to transport planner in 2004. His passion for efficient logistics and strategic planning saw him rise to the role of National Planning Manager, reporting directly to the board of directors.

Following the £59 million acquisition of James Irlam by Eddie Stobart in 2008, Matthew, alongside Michael Irlam, took charge of the walking floor and chipliner operations. Their efforts led to the creation of Stobart Biomass in 2010, where Matthew played a key role in expanding the fleet to over 170 walking floor trailers. Recognising the benefits of collaboration, he relocated the planning office to Penrith to work closely with A.W. Jenkinson, enhancing operational synergies.

In 2016, when Stobart Biomass relocated its planning operations to Widnes, Matthew chose to remain in Penrith and joined A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd as Business Development Manager and key contract manager. He continues to apply his extensive industry knowledge to drive growth, efficiency, and innovation within the business.
