Tom Crossland

Apprentice

Drax Power Ltd

Presentation title: Planning for Success

Biography:

After Tom completed his A-levels, he took on an electrically biased engineering apprenticeship, but decided wires and multimeters weren’t enough, so he pursued a mechanical engineering degree. During his studies, he completed a year in industry at Drax and after graduating, he returned in summer 2023 to join the graduate programme.

Now nearing the end of the programme, he has worked primarily on engineering projects across the boiler plant and materials handling systems, and he’s looking forward to progressing his career further within Drax.

Anecdote for moderator use only

Outside of work, I spend many weekends hanging off cliffs (voluntarily) as an avid climber, with a varied safety record that includes a handful of ground falls and one particularly memorable seagull attack on the Cornish sea cliffs.
